The care and cleaning of parquet flooring also includes maintaining the correct room climate of approx. +20° degrees and 55% relative humidity. In order to ensure the long-term preservation of the value and the visual effect of the parquet or wooden floor, a suitable parquet care product is required which should and can meet chemical, mechanical or visual requirements. IRSA recommends a suitable IRSA parquet care or cleaning agent which is matched to the sealing or (oil) impregnation. IRSA does not assume any warranty for third-party products.

Parquet care products protect surfaces from mechanical or chemical influences, improve the appearance of the flooring, extend the life of the corresponding surface protection and facilitate subsequent cleaning. The use of care products causes a film to form, which gives the floor additional protection. Depending on the amount and type of care product applied (e.g. depending on the binder used), a more or less strong gloss effect is created.

Combined cleaning and care products combine cleaning and care effects.

Over time, a smaller film is built up than with care products with higher solids, and a care oil represents a special variant for the cleaning and care of oiled wood surfaces.

With oiled floors, the wood pore is "filled" with maintenance oil, a very small maintenance film is applied, which protects the surface from dirt and moisture.

The service life, appearance and value retention of sealed or oiled/waxed parquet, wood or bamboo flooring depends largely on regular and, above all, professional maintenance. As a rule, the floor should never be flooded during the cleaning or maintenance process; the floor should always be treated with a damp cloth. damp care and cleaning means that the floor must be completely dry after three to five minutes. Wring out the rag very well; it must not drip any more.

Shortly: For the care and cleaning of sealed or oiled/waxed floors, care products or combined cleaning and care products should be used. The exclusive use of cleaning agents cannot adequately protect sealed or impregnated surfaces.

Worth knowing for the care of surfaces where slip resistance and slip resistance is required: For the trade "parquet", the assessment of the slip behaviour in accordance with the regulations of DIN 18032 part 2 is still applied - a coefficient of sliding friction of 0.4 to 0.6 is required μ.

The connection between slip behaviour and care in public buildings and sports facilities is particularly required by the sealant and care product with regard to the slip resistance of the wooden floor. According to DIN 18032, part 2, a certain coefficient of sliding friction is prescribed - the value must be between 0.4-0.6 μ.

The sealant and care product (which must not change the sliding friction value of the sealant upwards or downwards) should therefore have a sliding friction value of 0.4-0.6 μ. A corresponding test certificate (for sealing and care) should be available.

A test certificate is available for IRSA Wood Seal 2010 VOC High Solid in combination with IRSA Aqua Star R9, which should always be maintained professionally with the appropriate care product - so the floor cannot become too smooth.
